Peter Beste-
Peter Beste is a portrait photographer from New York City. Much of his work is shot with natural light and done in a candid style. He travels to different parts of the earth and documents his visits.
His work includes the Black Metal scene in Norway, the ghettos of London, The Houston Rap scene and several others. Not much else is said about this artist.
Nan Goldin-
Nan Goldin had her first solo show at age 20 in Boston. The show was based on her photographic adventures among the city's gay and transexual communities. She moved to NYC and began to document he post punk new wave music scene and drug and sex culture. She shoots with available light and most of her work is presented in slide form. Nan has been criticized for making the use of heroin glamorous.
Terry Richardson-
Terry Richardson is a fashion photographer who is known for being very off beat because of his controversial style of portraits. Most of Terry's work contains a large amount of sexual content. Terry was heavily influenced by his father who was a fashion photographer who also suffered from mental illness and drug addiction. Terry has done alot of fashion advertising.
Annie Leibovitz-
Annie Leibovitz is an American Portrait Photographer. She started her career as a photographer for Rolling Stone Magazine in the 1970's after living in Israel on a Kibbutz(an activist collective), where she applied many Jewish art concepts and apply them to photography. She was heavily influenced at the San Francisco art institute by Robert Frank. She was quoted saying "Their style of personal reportage - taken in a graphic way - was what we were taught to emulate." She has photographed many famous celebrities and has a unique style of capturing their full personalities in each photo.
