Philippe Halsman was an extremely influential photographer during the 1940s to 1970s. He worked with celebrities, intellectuals and politicians. His work with Salvador Dali and Albert Einstein were highlighted for me because of how well he depicted his subjects.
Giovanni Reda
Spike
Harold Hunter
Giovanni Reda is mostly a action photographer. However when he does take portraits, they are done exceptionally well. He does a great job capturing the emotion and personality of his subjects.
Alfred Wertheimer
“No More Paper Towels,” July 4, 1956.
Alfred Wertheimer became popular when he shot Elvis Presley. Photo Booth on newyorker.com posted a series called "10 days with Elvis Presley," I look into some of the most influential portraits he took. For me Alfred does a great job of capturing the emotion that was given at the time when he took the photograph.
Atiba Jefferson
Atiba Jefferson is a commercial photographer based in Los Angeles. He mainly shoots celebrities and professional athletes. When he does his portrait work he uses found natural light, however mostly external lighting from multiple strobes fired wirelessly. His portrait work successfully emphasizes a subject and background relationship.
